چکیده

Various anomalies of the inferior venacava (IVC) have been reported in the past. Amongst, the absence of IVC is one of the less frequently reported anomalies. The absence can be complete or partial, confined to the hepatic, supra-renal or infra-renal segment of IVC. It is still a controversy, whether these conditions are true embryonic anomalies or the result of perinatal IVC thrombosis. A man in his mid 30's presented with absence of the infra-renal IVC and both common iliac veins. The right renal vein is replaced by a long tortuous vessel, similar to the appearance of collateral vessel. He presented with extensive varicose veins on the anterior abdominal wall, severe varices of right leg with ulcer. A coronal multiplanar reconstruction CT imaging was used to document the anomaly. Prior knowledge of this anomaly is vital, especially if these individuals are subjected to undergo cardiac procedures via femoral vein access.

Inferior vena cava (IVC) anomalies were rare and usually asymptomatic. Among these, anomalies absence of infra-renal IVC is the rarest anomaly. Absence of infra-renal IVC may present with symptoms of venous insufficiency and idiopathic deep vein thrombosis. Contrast enhanced CT and MRI abdomen play crucial role in diagnosing these anomalies. These patients can be managed conservatively or by ve...

Agenesis of right and existence of left inferior vena cava associated with posterior nutcracker syndrome

Congenital agenesis of the inferior vena cava is an uncommon congenital anomaly which can be misdiagnosed. Agenesis of the inferior vena cava has an incidence of 0.0005% to 1% in the general population [1]. The most common cause of agenesis of the inferior vena cava is the failure of embryological development between the sixth and the tenth weeks of gestation. Heterotaxy syndrome is associated ...

A rare presentation of the double inferior vena cava with an anomalous retrocaval right ureter: embryogenesis and clinical implications.

On dissection of the abdomen of an adult male cadaver, in addition to the normal inferior vena cava on the right side, an unusual venous channel which connected the left renal vein with the left common iliac vein was found; (probably the left inferior vena cava). The left testicular and the left suprarenal veins were opening into the left renal vein as usual. Other than this, a retrocaval urete...

Difference in left renal vein pressure: an indicator for free of reconstruction after ligation in retroperitoneal tumor patients

We hypothesized that the left renal vein pressure difference (ΔP) before and after the ligation can serve as an objective indicator for free of reconstruction after resection of a retroperitoneal tumor with renal segment of inferior vena cava and right kidney. After established a model of left renal vein compression, 45 miniature pigs were operated on experimental procedures including renal seg...
